New DeSoto Fire Department Chief search

(DeSoto) The City of DeSoto is still fielding applications for its next Fire Chief. James Maupin abruptly resigned on March 21st and quit that day and gave no reason for his resignation. DeSoto City Manager Todd Melkus says it certainly came as a surprise.

Captain Mike Zebas was named the interim chief and Captain James Coleman has stepped up and taken on some extra duties to help out. James Maupin had been the chief since 2018 and first began his firefighting career as a volunteer in 1987. The deadline for applications is May 19th.
