New Jefferson County Counselor selected

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Council has decided on a new permanent County Counselor during their Monday night council meeting. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon says they have filled the position with the current Municipal Judge Jalesia “Jasha” McQueen Kuenzel.

Gannon says interim County Counselor Jason Cortis will move back to the position of Assistant County Counselor. Cortis filled the position after Judge Wes Yates was appointed as Associate Circuit Judge in the 23rd Judicial Circuit.

Judge Kuenzel will begin the new role in June, and the county will soon begin the search for a new Municipal Judge.
