New Look DeSoto Boys Track and Field Team Out to Prove Itself to Jefferson County

(DESOTO) The 2019 DeSoto boys track and field team will do its best to replace 100 and 200-meter dash state qualifier Trevor Johnson as well as state champion pole vaulter Mayson DeRousse.

Johnson left for Drury University and DeRousse for Missouri Southern State. Head coach Mike Genge talks about the leading candidates to fill their shoes.

 
There’s also the throws events that will be without last year’s state medalist in the javelin, Logan Smith. Coach Genge has some guys in mind that will compete in those events this year.

 
Last but not least, the state qualifying 4-by-100 and 4-by-200 meter relay teams are only bringing back one runner, so coach Genge says that there will be some experimentation with those groups this season.
