No Re-Trial for Man Accused of 1982 Dent County Murder

(Salem) The Dent County prosecutor has decided not to retry a man who already served 12 years for killing his girlfriend. Donald “Doc” Nash has insisted he did not kill the victim in 1982.

21-year-old Judy Lynn Spencer was strangled with her shoelace, then shot to death.

Nash was convicted in 2009 after authorities reopened the case.

The Missouri Supreme Court overturned his conviction earlier this year.

The prosecutor filed a motion Friday dropping the murder charge.
