In a game that was up for grabs until the buzzer, the North County Raiders boys basketball team earned a road victory over the Festus Tigers Tuesday night by a final score of 51-49.

North County maintained the lead for virtually the entire game, and it was their sophomore leader Karter Kekec taking it upon himself to build an early advantage for the Raiders.

But Festus would finally break through in the 4th quarter after going to a 5 guard lineup. This bucket by senior Kobe Branscomb would give Festus their first lead.

A bucket in the final minute by sophomore Clayton Crow would tie the game back up for North County.

Following that basket, Festus turned it over trying to get the ball in-bounds, and Kekec knocked down the game winning free throws. A half court shot at the buzzer went begging from Tigers senior Aquille Mohammed to wrap it up.
Mohammed led his team with 14 points while Kekec went for 26 on the night and earned our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

Raiders head coach Jimmy Palmer thought it was the win of the season for his group.

North County improves to 13-11 after the win and closes the regular season next Tuesday at Seckman. Festus drops to 15-8 and has Ste. Genevieve at home Thursday night.
