(Bonne Terre) The North County Raiders look to flush a long offseason away. The Raiders graduated 15 seniors, and lost two of their last three games. Despite a 3-0 start, North County Coach Brian Jones acknowledged the challenges the end of the season brought.
Luke Richardson and Zane Huff are the only two returning offensive starters. Tyler Pipkin, Carson Archer, Xavier Scherffius, and Kollin Winch will return to the defense. They will be accompanied by a lot of unfamiliar faces. The Raiders’ tough schedule means the JV callups will have to make a quick adjustment to the varsity game.
This is a young team, but they’re no stranger to hard work. Coach Jones says that this group works hard and loves the weight room, but they need to keep getting better every day to be successful this season.
One player who has done his job in the offseason, and is the new man under center, is junior quarterback Henry Allebach. He earned the job over the summer and is expected to turn heads this season. He’s matured physically and has improved his grasp of the offense after spending his sophomore campaign on JV. Coach Jones says there’s another part of Allebach’s game that stands out.
North County hopes their team plays its best football at the end of the season.
The Raiders open the 2023 season on August 25 at Farmington. You can listen to that game on AM-800 KREI and MyMoInfo.com.
