North County girls soccer plays for district title

There will be a champion crowned in Class 3 District 1 girls soccer Thursday in Cape Girardeau when the North County Raiders collide with the Cape Central Tigers. The second-seeded Raiders improved to 12-11 with a 4-1 victory over Farmington in Tuesday’s semifinals, and while much of the credit for North County’s success goes to sophomore striker Ella Gant, Raiders head coach Bill Farr says a complete team effort is how his team can capture a district title.
The Tigers of Cape Central are 16-5 and have received votes all year long despite not quite cracking the Class 3 state rankings. You can hear North County take on Cape Central Thursday evening in the Class 3 District 1 championship game with coverage starting at 5:45 on AM 800 KREI.
