North County knocked off by Cape Notre Dame in girls' hoops sectionals

The North County Raiders had a terrific girls’ basketball season come to an end when they fell 65-53 at Cape Notre Dame in the Class 5 sectionals Wednesday night on J98.

After trailing by as much as 12 in the first half, North County was able to claw back.

The Raiders only trailed 25-19 at halftime, but they couldn’t stop the Bulldogs in the third quarter.

The deficit doubled for North County going into the fourth quarter, and they could not recover.

While Notre Dame wins its 7th straight to improve to 17-5 and reach the state quarterfinals, Raiders head coach Joe Arnold said his team had nothing to hang their heads about.
