(Potosi) The North County Raiders went to Potosi and ran past the Trojans 27-7 on J-98 Friday night. Although North County came away with the win, it was Potosi who found paydirt first.
Potosi held a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, until North County quarterback Nolan Reed found his legs.
Junior Jobe Smith ran in a two-point conversion to give North County the lead. The Raiders defense forced a fumble on the next drive but Reed put the ball on the ground four plays later and Potosi recovered. The very next play, Trojans quarterback Blake Coleman threw an interception. The Raiders’ senior did not give his next carry away.
Credit to the Potosi defense for limiting Jobe Smith’s rushing game to 74 yards on 20 carries, but the junior racked up over 100 yards receiving, including this big catch to setup another Nolan Reed touchdown.
Reed was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the game with over 150 yards on the ground and four touchdowns and 134 yards through the air. North County head coach Brian Jones said the senior is gonna be sore tomorrow.
North County improves to 7-1 and will host Sullivan in the regular season finale next week. Potosi drops to 3-5 and plays DeSoto at home next Friday.
