North County’s Conkright Discusses Transfer and Selection as Co-Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Bonne Terre) Perhaps the most notable change of scenery in boys basketball in the area this year was 2020 Dream Teamer Kyle Conkright transferring from Ellington to North County.

He traded in his orange and black for the blue and gold and never skipped a beat, helping lead the Raiders to a one-loss record, an MAAA regular-season title, and has now been named one of our Applebee’s of Farmington Athletes of the Week.

Conkright says the transfer was challenging but everyone at North County made him feel right at home.

North County won all three of their games last week and Conkright lit up the scoreboard consistently.

Across those matchups, he averaged 23 points per game, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds.

In the game against Farmington on Tuesday, he poured in 26 points in the first half and finished the game with 34.

Conkright has averaged well over 20 points per game all year and the team has done a lot of winning, which is a testament to the team’s cohesion from the very beginning of the season.

He says it did not take long for the pieces to come together on the court.

Conkright had a decorated career at Ellington and he spoke highly of the program and his time playing with the Whippets.

He also says the season they are having with North County has been pretty special too.

As one of our Athletes of the Week, Conkright received a T-shirt, certificate, and coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
