(BONNE TERRE, Mo.) – Michaela Mason of the North County Raiders is planning to continue her softball career at the college level. Mason officially signed Thursday to play for the Fontbonne University Griffins in St. Louis next season. Mason said she considered a few options, but Fontbonne felt like the right fit.

Mason has spent most of her time as a pitcher and looks to continue pitching for the Griffins. She said she has a lot of mentors, including former Mizzou pitcher Chelsea Thomas, who was inducted into the Mizzou Athletic Hall of Fame last year.

While playing both softball and basketball at North County, Mason said she has thoroughly enjoyed her high school playing career.

Mason plans to major in fine arts. The Griffins are a Division III program in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
