North County’s Politte Sisters Our Applebees of Farmington Athletes of the Week

(Bonne Terre) Our Applebees of Farmington Athletes of the Week are North County sisters Lauren and Hanna Politte. Despite this being only their third year in the sport, they capped an undefeated 32-0 season with the Class One state championship in girls doubles tennis Saturday in Springfield. They said their goal for the season was just to play their best, but Hanna says they didn’t start out that way at the state meet. In fact they had to overcome three match points to get past the first round…

Hanna is a senior. She says the fact that they are sisters makes them a better team….

Lauren, a junior, will be back to help anchor the team next year. She says she’ll miss Hanna, but won’t settle for adjusting her goals…

Hanna doesn’t know where she will attend college yet, but she says she is open to scholarship offers to play tennis. The Polittes get t-shirts, a certificate, and coupons for free entrees at Applebees of Farmington for being named our Athletes of the Week. This week’s award comes with an honorable mention as the Politte’s teammates Lucy Pate and Kate Jones finished as the state runners up, making it an all North County final in Springfield.
