(Bonne Terre) North County Raiders junior Jobe Smith is the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.
That was the first of 6 touchdowns Smith scored in North County’s 49-24 victory over Vashon Saturday in the Class 4 football state quarterfinals.
Smith rushed for 168 yards and 4 TDs on 18 carries, but he also had a 60-yard interception return for a score and took a punt return 90 yards to the house.
Raiders head coach Brian Jones says it was the kind of performance that changed the way he was coaching the game.
Smith has now scored a total of 34 touchdowns this season to help the Raiders reach a record of 12-1.
North County reaches the football Final 4 for the first time since 1997 and will take on Hannibal this Saturday afternoon in a game you can hear on J98.
As Athlete of the Week, Smith receives a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon for a free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
