North County’s Whatley wallops competition on way to wrestling Dream Team

(Bonne Terre) Mikayla Whatley has set a gold standard for girls’ wrestling with the North County Raiders.

Whatley’s stellar senior season has also earned her a place on the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Whatley finished fifth in the state at 122 pounds and won 44 of 46 matches in her final year with the Raiders.

She says she’s glad to see her hard work pay off.

Whatley won her third straight district championship this season to make it 3 straight state qualifications.

She says she only got better by making her mind sharper.

But Whatley is quick to give credit to the people who helped her along the way.

Whatley won over 100 matches in her career, including a sectional championship in her weight class this season.
