Northwest explodes late in extra-innings win at Windsor

(Imperial) The Northwest Lions found a way to respond from some late-inning drama and knocked off the Windsor Owls 10-6 in extras Tuesday on KJFF.

Northwest brought out the big guns in their lineup early.

The Lions lead by as much as 3 runs before Windsor cut into the deficit.

The game almost ended for the Owls, before Nathan Beerman put a ball into play that set up a wild finish to the seventh inning.

What ended up as a game-tying double sent the game as far as the ninth, where Northwest regrouped and got the 2-out swing they needed to go back on top.

The Lions scored 4 more runs after that with 2 outs in the ninth, providing more than enough cushion for the win.

Jeffrey Lentz and Austin Jerger had 3 hits each and combined for 3 runs scored and 3 batted in on their way to being named Applebee’s of Farmington Players of the Game.

The Lions improve to 8-6, while the Windsor Owls fall to 11-6.
