Northwest girls nail down Fox in final minutes on KJFF

(Cedar Hill) The Northwest Lions may have found their rhythm after grinding to their first conference win of the season, beating the Fox Warrior girls 49-44 Thursday on KJFF.

Fox kept things tight throughout the night thanks to sophomore guard Aubrey Andrews, who scored a game-high 21 points, and senior guard Minea Dervisevic.

The Warriors only trailed by one at halftime and the end of the third quarter.

But Northwest put the game away in the late stages thanks to senior guard Jenna Roth.

Roth, who averaged less than 5 points per game, scored nine of her 11 points in the second half to help the Lions win for the third time in the last 4 games.

Head coach Brian Houts said he’s looking to his entire team to be more aggressive on offense.

Grace Eimer scored a team-high 14 points as Northwest improved to 9-10.

Fox falls to 6-13.

The Warriors are off a week until their next game against Lindbergh, while the Lions battle Oakville on Wednesday.
