Northwest R-1 Getting $450K Grant for School Security Projects

(CEDAR HILL)    The Northwest R-1 School District is one of three Jefferson County districts to be awarded a grant as part of the new Missouri School Security Grant Program.  According to Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Hecktor, the district will receive  $450,000  for improved security projects.

Hecktor says the administration’s facilities committee began meeting a year and a half ago, surveying the district’s buildings and properties studying ways to improve security at all of the district’s campuses.

Two other districts in Jefferson County were also awarded security grants from the state, Festus R-6 will get $350,000 and De Soto 73 will receive $250,000.
A spokesman for the state says districts will receive the money by the end of May and have until April 29, 2024 to spend it.
