(Cedar Hill) The Northwest Lions made some great memories on the pitch in 2019.

The Lions won 19 games and a district championship in boys’ soccer last season, but they will need to replace some stars.

Top scorers Brandon O’Dell and Joe Noah have graduated after combining for a whopping 46 goals.

Lions head coach David Willis says his team has to understand they’re not going to be champions again just by showing up.

Northwest will also need a new starting goalkeeper, but Willis thinks he has a fabulous replacement in freshman Alex Drexler.

All in all, Willis says long-term success starts with short-term effort.

Northwest will start the 2020 boys’ soccer season Saturday when they travel to take on Union.
