(Cedar Hill) 2019 was a record-setting run for Northwest High School softball.

The Lions won 26 games and finished 4th in the state in Class 4, and most of the squad is back this season.

But there are changes.

Andrew Keating steps in as head coach after being an assistant last season.

He says the other major difference will be the target his team has on its back.

Top sluggers Alexi Sanchez, Jenna and Sarah Roth and Ella and Madi Stichling all return for a lineup that scored a whopping 335 runs.

But Keating says his lineup won’t have the same amount of success just by showing up.

But there is no doubt that the talent is in place for the Lions to roar again.

Keating says they’ll simply try to control what they can.

Northwest starts the 2020 softball season by playing the Sullivan Tournament Saturday.
