(CEDAR HILL) The Northwest volleyball Lions were winners of the Red Division Gold Bracket this past weekend at the 32nd Annual SEMO Dig For Life Challenge in Cape Girardeau.

The Lions won all 8 of their matches, both in pool play and bracket play, only dropping 2 sets the entire tournament. Each of those dropped sets was in the semifinals and finals of the Gold Bracket where Northwest battled Arcadia Valley and Park Hills Central.

For 8th-year head coach Debra Fortner, it was those two matches that showed what the Lions are made of this season.

This was the first year that Northwest participated in the SEMO Dig For Life Challenge.

Coach Fortner moves on and lists some of the outstanding players that make up the squad this year.

Northwest volleyball now stands at 10-2 this year with a road match Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Ladue.
