Northwest’s Chandler overcomes obstacles to reach wrestling Dream Team

(Cedar Hill) The Northwest Lions have become one of the most dominant girls’ wrestling programs in the area, bringing home another district championship this season.

They also may have found their next superstar.

Sophomore Abby Chandler dominated on the mat, finding her way onto the Regional Radio Dream Team after finishing fourth in the state in 2022 at 194 pounds.

But this latest achievement is one she deeply appreciates and says is not possible without her coaches.

Chandler went 40-6 this past season and won 6 tournament titles.

It was a long road to get back to where a serious setback first occurred, but Chandler says a difficult journey back to the top was worth it.

And Chandler says she had a pretty good team helping her walk the road to recovery.

Chandler never finished worse than fifth in tournament competition this season.
