Northwest’s Drexler makes the most of his moment, makes boys’ soccer Dream Team

(Cedar Hill) Alex Drexler is quickly asserting himself as one of the best goalies in all of Missouri high school boys’ soccer.

The Northwest Lions sophomore can now also call himself a member of the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Drexler finished with a save percentage over .870 and recorded 12 shutouts, six of them in a row, during a 17-8 season for the Lions.

He says the Dream Team selection adds to a memorable year.

But Drexler’s burgeoning career with the Lions almost didn’t continue.

Over the summer, he was approached about joining the youth academy team for St. Louis City FC, the incoming Major League Soccer club

It would have meant he would have to give up his high school season.

But Drexler says he couldn’t pass up a chance to continue his time in Cedar Hill.

As for his success on the soccer pitch, Drexler says that’s thanks to the people, both past and present, in his life.

Drexler was not only all-conference and all-district, but was also voted by his fellow Lions as team MVP for the second straight season.
