(Cedar Hill, Mo.) Taylor Murphey certainly became a household name over the last 2 years in Cedar Hill. Murphey became the first state qualifier and second state medalist in girls’ wrestling in Northwest Lions history, and she has now also joined the Regional Radio Dream Team. Murphey says, in a year full of great girls wrestlers, it was somewhat of a surprise that she earned the nod from area coaches.

Murphey went 39-3 this season and finished third in the state in the 135-pound weight class. She also walked away as the winningest girls wrestler in Northwest history, something she is very proud of.

Murphey says plenty of people have helped her along the way, including her Lions coaches and teammates.

Northwest freshman Lily Shaffrey also earned a medal at the girls’ wrestling state tournament.
