Notable increase in DWI arrests throughout the region this summer

(Jefferson County) When the weather is warm and more people are out and about is typically the time when Driving While Intoxicated arrests become more Prevalent.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says one of his officers recently received honors for traffic safety and DWI enforcement.

Pevely Police Chief Mark Glenn adds they are seeing an increase in DWI’s involving more than just alcohol.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, in 2020, more than 900 people died and another 33,000 were injured in traffic crashes involving alcohol or drug use.
