(Ironton, MO) – The 90th Annual Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving basketball tournament continued Wednesday on J-98 with semifinal action. The opening game saw the 1 seeded Ellington Whippets defeat the host Arcadia Valley 74-51. A strong start to the game gave the Tigers an early lead, however Ellington would utilize a big second quarter to take a 38-29 lead into the half…

 


The Whippets would cruise late in the game to advance to the Championship. Ellington would be led in scoring by Marshon Morrisey with 23 points and tacked on an additional 12 rebounds for his double-double. The Tigers were paced by Jake Pryor with his 20. Ellington head coach Jeremy Peterson says he liked the energy….

 


The second semifinal game in the Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving tournament had the West County Bulldogs on top of the South Iron Panthers 60-50. After a few lead changes in the first quarter, the Bulldogs finally began to pull away late in the first half…

 


West County would hold off a late Panther surge to move on to the Championship. Jacob Meinershagen would lead all scorers with 22 points. Bulldogs head coach Chris Labruyere said he liked what he saw from his team…

 


The victory for West County sends them to a Championship rematch from last year against the Ellington Whippets Thursday. Meanwhile, South Iron will be matched up against Arcadia Valley in the third place game. You can hear both games starting at 6:30 Thursday on J-98.
