October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is still receiving a large amount of calls concerning domestic violence cases. Brenda Short is the Victims Services Coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office. She says domestic violence calls have been up and down for the past five years.

Short says there are many reasons why domestic violence situations can happen, but lots of the problems can stem from everyday stress.

Short says the numbers in Jefferson County appear to be similar to other cities and counties.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Anyone who is dealing with domestic violence and needs help or has questions can reach Brenda Short at (636) 797-5017.
