October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

(Jefferson County) October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many may have seen the pink ribbons or other reminders for women to pay attention to their breast health.

Early detection of breast cancer, like any cancer, is extremely important for treatment and survival.

Dr. Christine Ormsby is a radiologist at Mercy Hospital Jefferson. She goes over ways breast cancer can be found early.

There are two types of mammograms women can get, a 2D or 3D test.

According to Dr. Ormsby most insurance companies will cover a 2D and 3D mammogram test with no out of pocket cost.

However, there may be a small copay cost for a diagnostic exam.
