October is National Crime and Prevention Month

(Hillsboro) October is known as National Crime Prevention Month, and members of law enforcement are certainly wanting to remind residents of avoiding becoming a crime statistic. Grant Bissell is the Public Safety and Information Coordinator for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He says this time of the year is a great reminder to be mindful when leaving your vehicles running to warm up on the cooler mornings.

Bissell says even while gassing up your vehicle, watch where those items are located inside.

Although it hasn’t happened often in Jefferson County, St. Louis City and County have both recently seen a rash of vehicle thefts from gas stations in recent weeks.
