Old Mines 300th Birthday Party Continues with Spring Rendezvous

(Old Mines) The Village of Old Mines is celebrating a huge birthday this year.

The small community in Washington County is 300 years old this year.

Dennis Boyer is a member of a reenactment group from Old Mines called La Brigade a Renault.

He says like many communities in our area, mining brought Old Mines together.

Boyer says mining took place in Old Mines for almost 150 years before it finally stopped.

Boyer and his reenactment group will host the next big celebration and that is the annual Old Mines Spring Rendezvous set for Saturday, May 20th and Sunday the 21st.

Boyer says visitors can get them a tasty treat that weekend if they time it just right.

The 38th La Fete a Renault Rendezvous begins at 10 o’clock both Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st.

It features flintlock and percussion rifle matches.

All competitors are required to be in period dress, portraying an 1800’s mountain man or fur trapper.

Admission and parking is free for visitors.
