Old Mines To Celebrate 300th Anniversary This Saturday

(Old Mines) Saturday will be the biggest day ever in the history of Old Mines.

That’s when the 300th Anniversary of the Washington County community will take place on the grounds of St. Joachim Catholic Church.

Dennis Boyer has been helping put this big day together.

Boyer says the live music on Saturday could only be more authentic if we went back in time to 1723.

We asked Boyer if he knew the founder of Old Mines.

Saturday’s 300th birthday party for Old Mines runs from 11 until 6 on the church grounds.

The day will also feature tours of some historic buildings, an old fashioned cake walk, pie eating contest, a beard contest, a quilting demonstration, old time crafters, like making shingles, log hewing, rope making, there’s a beer garden and more.

There’s also a lot of fun activities planned for the kids.
