Omicron variant found in Festus-Crystal City

(Festus, Crystal City) As the omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to make its way throughout the country, it’s no surprise it has been detected in Festus-Crystal City. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says it was found this week.
Vollmar says testing the water treatment facilities around the state has been a great tool in the battle against Covid.
The last report given by the JCHD was on December 23rd, and they reported 158 new daily cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 38,859 since March of last year. The current active cases are 1,321, and there have been 378 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
