One more approval to give I-55 lane addition the green light

(Jefferson County) There is one final obstacle to get through before the additional third lane of traffic on I-55 is approved to begin in 2024. State Representative Becky Ruth of Festus serves as the Chair for the House Transportation Committee and has been advocating for the third lane for years. She says while the State Transportation Committee gave approval for the project last week in the 2022 to 2026 transportation plan…it still needs to be approved by one more group.

The East-West Gateway Council of Governments will meet again in August. The additional third lane of traffic on I-55 will be added both north and south from Highway Z in Pevely to Highway 67 just south of Festus.
