One Suspect Dead, Two Others in Custody Following Attempted Burglary in Jefferson County

(Jefferson County) Charges have been filled against 1 of the three suspects involved in a burglary attempt that turned deadly at a residence in the 400 block of Sequoia Drive outside of Festus.

29-year-old Sean Ramsey of Festus has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Burglary, and 3rd Degree Assault.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell says this started around 1:42 on Thursday morning when deputies were dispatched to the home for a report of a burglary and assault with shots fired.

That’s when the home owner grabbed his handgun and opened the door.

One of the three suspects was apparently shot in the head and died on the scene. The deceased is identified as 36-year-old Wayne Roam of House Springs.

The two other suspects ran off. While speaking with the homeowner, deputies saw a vehicle with two men inside drive slowly past.

The two men inside reportedly seemed very interested in the crime scene.

Deputies arrested both men inside the car on warrants and suspicion that both men had something to do with the burglary attempt.

The investigation is ongoing and charges might be filled against the second suspect, a 37-year-old man from Festus.

Ramsey is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
