Online Sales Hurting Farmington Taxes

(Farmington) Farmington sales tax collections rose 3.1% in the month of July compared to this time last year. City Administrator, Greg Beavers says that jump can be credited to the money that was injected into the economy by the government for Coronavirus relief. Beavers says retail taxes are actually going down the culprit is obvious.

beavers acknowledges the disparity between the speed at which the economy changes compared to the speed at which government acts.

Farmington remains a hub for retail, dining and other services so Beavers says it no reason to panic at the moment, but in the long term it could get rough.
