(CRYSTAL CITY) The first night of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic boys basketball tournament takes the stage Monday night on KJFF and J98. The first game, which will be on AM 1400 KJFF, features host and 6-seed Crystal City taking on 7th-seeded Grandview. Eagles head coach Taylor Hassell wants his guys to spread the ball around and believes they’ll do well in the tournament if they can do that.

Hornets head coach Lee Richardson is seeing signs of depth on his team and he believes all of his players will have a chance to make their mark on the game.

Crystal City and Grandview tip-off the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic at 5 p.m. Monday night with pregame on KJFF beginning at 4:45.

The 2nd game of the night, on J98, involves 2-seed Jefferson and 5th-seeded Herculaneum. Blackcats juniors Jordan Duncan and Austin Huson, as well as senior Marino Ragan, all picked up injuries during the football season and will not be available for the tourney. Also, Festus sophomore transfer Josh Moreland will not be able to go.

So, Herky head coach Jason Jarvis is looking at this tournament as an opportunity to see who else he can count on as the season progresses.

Jefferson, like the rest of the teams in the tourney, is hoping they get the chance to face top-seed Saxony Lutheran. Still, Blue Jays head coach Sean Breeze knows beating Herky has to be the team’s focus.

Jefferson and Herculaneum will tip-off after the conclusion of Crystal City and Grandview, with the estimated start time at 6:30 Monday night. J-98 will carry the Blue Jays and Blackcats.
