(Park Hills) A new budget for the City of Park Hills was officially passed during a meeting of the city council Tuesday night.

It was also announced that the current budget, which ends next Wednesday evening at the close of business hours, will wind up much better than originally anticipated.

Here’s City Administrator Mark McFarland.

Also at the meeting, a Park Hills city councilman announced he had to resign from his post.

In other news from the Park Hills City Council meeting, Glenda Straughn with the St. Francois County Relay for Life requested if her relay team could receive donations while the Christmas lights are up at Columbia Park later this year.

Currently, there is an ordinance on the books that prohibits fundraising in the park.

However, the council may change the ordinance in order to allow that to happen.

Also, a contract with Leadbelt Materials was approved to do paving work on a portion of Mill Street.

That work is expected to start as soon as possible.
