(PERRYVILLE, Mo.) – After earning six straight conference titles, the Perryville Pirates boys soccer team is ready to return to action this fall. Perryville finished 13-6 overall in the regular season a year ago, but fell in its first district tournament game against St. Pius. Head coach Jerry Fulton said he thinks his collection of returners and newcomers can put together a even better finish this year.

The Pirates will need to replace some scoring, with Dream Team midfielder Cole Gerstenberger moving to Farmington. But coach Fulton said he has guys who can step in to fill Gerstenberger’s role.

Coach Fulton will also need to replace goalkeeper Trent Unterreiner, who graduated in the spring. Coach Fulton said he thinks the competition in net will bring out the best in his players.

Perryville will start its boys soccer season with the Greg Kline Invitational on Friday.
