Perryville Girls Soccer Goes Back To Back As District Champs

(Perryville) For the first time in program history, the Perryville Pirates Girls Soccer team has gone back-to-back as District Champions in Class 2 District 1 by defeating Fredericktown 2-0 on Tuesday. The Pirates were able to get out to a lead quickly, scoring their goals in the first half. Head Coach Jerry Fulton says the game plan was to step on the gas pedal out the gate.

Fulton and his Pirates had a tough task in dealing with dynamic Blackcat Midfielder Alivia Buxton, so Fulton decided to let his best player guard her one-on-one. It proved to pay off.

His message to the team was to celebrate after the win but get back to work the next day. Fulton says preparation for their opponent in the state tournament is the same as if it was any other game in the regular season.

The Perryville Pirates will learn who they will play in the State Quarterfinals Friday evening. The Pirates have another opportunity to make history on May 28th, as a win would take them to their first Final Four in program history.
