Perryville Girls’ Soccer Is Ranked #1 In The State In Class 2

(Perryville) The top-ranked team in the state in Class 2 for girls soccer is the Perryville Lady Pirates. Perryville’s record is near perfect at 12-0-1 with the lone tie coming against #10 Fredericktown in the Hillsboro tournament. After graduating former Dream Team Player of the Year Leah Buerck and the 45 goals she scored last year, head coach Jerry Fulton says it’s been a team effort to put the ball in the back of the net.

Junior Kyla Schnurbusch leads the way with 17 goals and 46 points. Junior Carlie Holdman is second on the team with 10 goals and 9 Lady Pirates have scored at least 2 goals.

Defensively, Perryville has conceded just 9 goals in thirteen games. Sophomore Brooklyn Moll is the keeper that has helped Perryville to 8 shutouts this season.

A fair comment as the Lady Pirates are outscoring their opponents 52-9 on the year and 32-0 over the last four games. Last season, Perryville won their district but ran into the eventual State Champions Ursuline Academy in the first round. Fulton says they want to get back to the state playoffs and make the next step.

#1 Perryville will host Windsor Thursday evening.
