(Perryville) Perryville High School has selected its new head baseball coach. Matt Schonhoff has been chosen to succeed Blane Boss, who left to be the head football coach at Herculaneum, as the skipper for the Pirates. Schonhoff had been the head J-V coach for Perryville and a varsity assistant under Boss so he’s familiar with the program…

This isn’t the only new job for Schonhoff, though, as he was named the middle school girls’ basketball coach for Perryville. Schonhoff was also a varsity assistant for the girl’s high school team but knew the baseball and basketball schedules could intertwine at some point. He was fortunate the middle school job opened up, allowing him to stay connected to another sport he loves while giving him enough time to prepare for the baseball season…

Schonhoff loves coaching and he cares about the development of his players as athletes and as human beings. When it comes to baseball, he understands the lessons that can be taken from the field and into the real world…

The Perryville Pirates finished 3-15 last season with a loss to Fredericktown in the Class 4 District 1 tournament.
