Perryville soccer falls to Cape Notre Dame in district title match

The Perryville Pirates held on for as long as they could but ultimately yielded to the Cape Notre Dame Bulldogs, losing the Class 2 District 1 championship game 3-0 Wednesday evening in Perryville.
The Pirates never got on track in the attack, and while the defense held up for most of the night, Notre Dame finally struck in the 60th minute.
All-state forward Griffin Stewart added a pair of goals down the stretch as the Bulldogs won the district title for the second straight year and third time in 4 years.
Perryville head coach Jerry Fulton says his team still had a great season despite the loss.
Perryville’s season ends with a record of 17-6.
Cape Notre Dame improves to 15-5-1 and will host Lutheran South in sectionals.
