(CAPE GIRARDEAU) – Despite going 6-13 during the regular season, the Perryville Pirates softball team has a chance to earn a district championship this year as they take on Doniphan Saturday in the Class 3 District 1 title game. The Pirates have made an impressive run through the bracket so far with wins against Sikeston and last year’s state runner-up Cape Notre Dame. Head coach Dustin Wengert said he knew his group could play with anybody in the district.

Perryville will face Doniphan for the district championship Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Cape Girardeau.
