Perryville Softball wins District, Keeps Going in State Tournament
(Perryville) The Perryville Pirates softball team is once again Class 3 District 1 champions. The Lady Pirates started this season 5-10 but were able to flip a switch in mid-September and won 7 out of their last 10 games. First-year Head Coach Lily Pecaut tells us what changed the trajectory of their season.
The Pirates offense came alive in the districts, defeating Bayless and St. Pius by double-digit runs. However, the championship game against Doniphan came down to the wire and needed an extra inning to crown a champion.
Peacut says it’s a great feeling to carry on the tradition of success for the Perryville softball program. In addition to another District Championship, Pecaut and the Pirates picked up a first-round victory over St. Charles West in the Class 3 State Tournament on Wednesday.
The Lady Pirates will take a short break from the softball diamond and will be back Friday, October 29th for a semi-final matchup against Chillicothe.
