Perryville, St. Vincent boast most selections for JCAA girls’ soccer all-conference

The best of the best on the pitch have been recognized by the Jefferson County Athletic Association with the honor of girls’ soccer all-conference selections.

Leading the way is Perryville Pirates forward Leah Buerck, who was named the JCAA Player of the Year.

The senior scored a school-record 45 goals this season while helping Perryville win 17 matches and the Class 2 District 1 championship.

Buerck is joined on the first team by fellow Pirate Anna Gremaud as a unanimous all-conference selection.

Other unanimous all-conference choices are St. Pius Lancers senior AJ Agers, St. Vincent Indians senior Mary Schwartz and Windsor Owls seniors Jordan Kolinski and Elizabeth Spurgeon.

Hillsboro Hawks sophomore Baylei Clubb is the lone goalkeeper chosen as first-team all-conference.

She is joined with top honors by junior teammate Colleen Theiss.

Rounding out the first team is St. Pius sophomore Riley Cappozzo, Festus Tigers junior Emily Holt and St. Vincent seniors Genevieve Lipe and Emme Kirn.

The highest-selected DeSoto Dragons player is sophomore Emma Tucker, who made the second team.

Also on second-team all-conference is St. Pius’ Colleen Flanagan; Festus’ Jersey Moonier and Alayna Erxleben; Windsor’s Lexi Menne and Maddy Gillick; St. Vincent’s Reese Barber, Anna Schwartz and Addie Cates; and Perryville’s Kyla Laurentius, Carlie Holdman, Rachel Riney and Adrienne Weibrecht.

Honorable mentions went to Zoey Wibbenmeyer of the conference-champion Indians; Abby Pope of the Dragons; Lillie Stephens of the Tigers; AJ Stetina of the Lancers; Bella Stephens and MJ Smith of the Hawks; Elizabeth Gremaud and Kyla Schnurbusch of the Pirates; and Taylor Kolinski, Maddy Follmer and Piper Montgomery of the Owls.

Windsor’s Mike Hutchinson was named the conference Coach of the Year after guiding the program to a Class 3 District 1 title.
