The Perryville Pirates used a big second half to cruise into the Class 2 District 1 boys soccer championship after a 6-0 win over the Fredericktown Blackcats in Monday evening’s semifinal in Perryville as heard on the MyMoInfo SportsStream.

Fredericktown held its own for much of the first half, but a senior came off the bench to get the Pirates on the board in the 25th minute with the Gilster Mary Lee Goal of the Game.

Up 1-0 at halftime, Perryville exploded after the break.
Stanley Volansky set up Dayton Strattman in the 50th minute and scored himself 8 minutes later.

Volansky added a second goal on his way to earning Applebee’s Player of the Game, and Strattman and Austin Welk added goals to the final tally.
Pirates head coach Jerry Fulton said his team made adjustments that led to a big final 40 minutes.

While Fredericktown’s season ends with a record of 7-11, Perryville wins its fourth straight to improve to 17-5.
The Pirates will now get to face top-seeded Cape Notre Dame on their home turf Wednesday night for the Class 2 District 1 title.
