Perryville’s Laurentius Earns Walk-on Opportunity with MAC Softball

(Perryville) The Perryville softball team has had playmakers across the board over the past few seasons, and now, another one has found a home to continue her playing career.

Kyla Laurentius, who has been a standout second baseman for the Pirates, recently accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Mineral Area College softball team.

She says being a walk-on is just a label, and she is excited for the opportunity to earn her spot.

The Pirates softball team has had a ton of success in recent years, winning two district championships over the past three seasons and winning 37 games over the past two.

Laurentius says it was such a fun experience playing for Perryville that it will be hard to leave.

Fortunately for Laurentius, she will have the opportunity to play at MAC alongside two of her high school teammates, Brooke Huber and Brittanie Stewart.

Perryville softball head coach and MAC assistant coach says Laurentius is a stud defensively and the type of player that any coach would love to have.

This past fall, Laurentius slashed .288 with 4 doubles, a triple, 8 RBI, 11 runs scored, and a 100% fielding percentage with 52 putouts and 7 assists.
