Plight of the Bumblebee Coming to Farmington

(Farmington) The East Ozarks Audubon Society will host a free program titled “The Plight of the Bumblebee” on Tuesday night, January 18th at the Farmington Public Library.

Rose Mier of Madison County will be presenting the program.

She and her husband have been participating in a citizen science research effort called “The Missouri Bumblebee Atlas” where they have been locating and documenting bumblebees in Madison County and other nearby counties.

We asked Mier if bumblebees are just as important as honey bees.

Mier says besides Missouri wild flowers, bumblebees also pollinate peppers, tomatoes, potatoes and blueberries.

“The Plight of the Bumblebee” discussion begins at 7 on Tuesday night, January 18th at the Farmington Public Library.

A social and light refreshments will be served starting at 6:30. Masks are required to attend this free event.
