Positive Covid-19 cases increasing among children

The Jefferson County Health Department continues to warn against the increase in Covid-19 cases among it’s residents, especially in children. Brianne Zweiner is the Public Communications Officer for the JCHD. She says children’s cases have increased significantly over the past few months.

Zweiner says there are some concerns with school beginning next week for most school districts.

Area school districts continue to look over their safety plans for the start of the 2021-22 school year.

Yesterday (Monday), the JCHD reported 42 new cases of Covid-19 in the county, bringing the total number of positive cases to 26,097 in the county since March of last year. The active cases have increased to 738, and now there have been 260 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
