Positive Covid-19 cases rising in Jefferson County

(Hillsboro) The number of positive Covid-19 cases in Jefferson County has been rising over the last few weeks. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the number of “active” cases has been reaching a total we haven’t seen in a few months.

As of Wednesday, the number of active cases was nearly 400 at 396. Wednesday, the Jefferson County Health Department has been notified of 55 new positive cases for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the county. This brings the total number of positive cases to 22,386 in Jefferson County. Of those 22,386, there are 21,990 recoveries and 233 deaths. 1,343 of those positive cases have been at long-term care facilities.

The Jefferson County Health Department will host three more Covid-19 vaccination clinics at the Festus location next week. They are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
