Potosi and Salem Square Off in Class 3 District 2 Quarterfinals on the MyMoInfo SportStream

(Potosi) Potosi and Salem face off tonight in the first round of the Class 3 District 2 tournament. Potosi finished the regular season a 5-4 and lost their final game of the regular season to DeSoto. Head coach Dylan Wyrick stayed home for last week’s game because of quarantining and said it was tough position to be in. Wyrick coached the Salem Tigers last season to a 7-4 record and he said he knows a lot about this team, the coaches and the players.

Wyrick and the third seeded Trojans relied heavily on their defense to win games early on in the season, but the offense was beginning to come alive recently. Their run heavy offense needs to execute at a high level to get the win tonight. Wyrick says this game comes down to who stays focused for four quarters.

On the other side of the field, Coach Lane Howard and the sixth seed Tigers finished the regular at 5-4 beating Cabool. Their last four game have been decided by an average of 6.75 points. Howard says that his guys never give up and fight for 48 minutes. These two teams run similar schemes and, like Wyrick, Howard knows the team who takes care of their assignments will likely come out on top.

Howard recognizes the fact that Wyrick knows the Tigers’ player well. He believes his guys are pulling some extra motivation competing against their former head coach.

It’s the Class 3 District 2 Quarterfinals – coverage begins at 6 with kickoff at 7 on the MyMoInfo SportStream.
